BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™ 1.0 released on 21 Dec 2011

21 December 2011 -- BizInt Solutions, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™ 1.0.

BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™ offers the ability to create a "reference row"— a single row combining information from different sources. Related source records representing the same drug, patent family, or clinical trial – based on the same Common Drug Name, Common Patent Family, or Common Trial Identifier – are presented in a single row.

Each cell in the reference row is selected based on a database ranking and column rules which you define. Currently, Reference Rows reports are distributed in an exported file format (e.g. HTML, Word, etc.)

BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows is included at no additional charge as part of BizInt Smart Charts for Patents and BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines licenses. Reference Rows is a separate application which is downloaded and installed on each BizInt Smart Charts user's desktop.

VantagePoint - BizInt Smart Charts Edition coming in early 2012

9 November 2011 -- BizInt Solutions, Inc. is pleased to announce an agreement with Search Technology, Inc. to develop and market a custom version of VantagePoint for use by BizInt Smart Charts customers.

VantagePoint – BizInt Smart Charts Edition will import files exported by BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines or BizInt Smart Charts for Patents, using a custom version of the new XML Smart Data Exchange format. BizInt Smart Charts users can apply data cleaning and user-managed thesaurus tools in VantagePoint and then export cleaned and normalized fields back to BizInt Smart Charts.

"Especially used in conjunction with our new BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows utility, VantagePoint will help our users create truly meaningful multi-database reports, with consistent values across databases."

VantagePoint – BizInt Smart Charts Edition will contain VantagePoint's core analytics suite including market-leading Data Cleanup, Thesaurus, Record Classifications, My Keywords, and interactive analytical visualizations. Data exchange between the two tools will be simplified to make it easy to move data back and forth, allowing the user to concentrate on analysis and reporting, rather than managing data flow.

VantagePoint – BizInt Smart Charts Edition will be sold by BizInt Solutions as part of a BizInt Smart Charts license. Annual license pricing will be $3000 for the first user and $1600 for additional users in the same license. The expected release date is 1Q 2012.

XML Smart Data Exchange now in Beta (June 2011)

BizInt Solutions, in conjunction with the Vantage Point team at Search Technologies, has defined a new XML format for exchanging data between post-processing tools.

This XML Smart Data Exchange format allows users to export the contents of a chart in a format which can be easily loaded into other tools, such as Vantage Point v. 7. You can perform analysis, clustering, database lookups, or other operations using those tools, and then return the results of your analysis to BizInt Smart Charts to be included in your chart.

Preliminary user documentation is available, as is a description of the XML format itself. Please let us know if you are planning to implement the XML, and the spec is still subject to small changes.

This new export is available in BizInt Smart Charts for Patents (starting with version 3.4.7) and BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines (starting with version 3.4.5).

Support for Thomson Innovation added in Version 3.4.6 (May 2011)

BizInt Smart Charts for Patents Version 3.4.6 was released on 5 May 2011 with support for Thomson Innovation.

Thomson Innovation users can export search results from Thomson Innovation, including DWPI records, using the "BizInt Smart Charts" export format.

To create reports from Thomson Innovation, BizInt Smart Charts customers will need to download and install BizInt Smart Charts for Patents Version 3.4.6 or later.

An old Micropatent BPD format which was not supported by BizInt Smart Charts is being retired.

Version 3.4 (3.4.0, 3.4.1, 3.4.2) released Fall 2010

In Fall 2010, BizInt Solutions released Version 3.4 of BizInt Smart Charts for Patents, BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines and BizInt Smart Charts Viewer.  We encourage all customers to download and install the Version 3.4 software.  We will continue to issue interim releases of Version 3.4 in parallel with the development of BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™.

New in BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipeline 3.4.2 (2 November 2010)

  • Added new Tool to Generate Common Trial IDs for clinical trials charts. More information about creating and combining reports from clinical trials databases can be found in the Clinical Trials Reports handout.

Version 3.4.1 was released on 8 October 2010

  • The Sort panel now starts with the current column selected. Also there is now a toolbar button for sorting.
  • Added a new command to hide the current column from the right-mouse menu and toolbar.
  • When saving a chart, the entire chart will be freshly written every time. This has been the case for Save As for a long time.
  • A small number of users upgrading from Version 3.3 to Version 3.4 found that when they opened a chart file or an import file, Version 3.3 would launch instead of the new software. This is fixed when installing this version.

New in BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipeline 3.4.1

  • jumpstart links from OvidSP: OvidSP now includes an option to include the jumpstart link in the record. This link is now loaded as the URL for a row when present.
  • We discovered a problem with IMS R&D Focus on Ovid in which the Originator was not always being populated. This has been fixed.

New in BizInt Smart Charts for Patents 3.4.1

  • The URL for Patbase Express direct links has changed. The software has been updated to work with the new URL.
  • Fixed a problem with the presentation of several fields in XML results from Questel. Also cleaned up the presentation of several fields in records in FAMPAT.

Version 3.4.0 was released on 6 September 2010

  • New installation package will make it easier to install new releases for some XP, Vista and Windows 7 users without Administrator privileges.
  • Features a number of improvements for support of XP, Windows 7 and Vista.
  • Recommended for customers who require an in-house certification process for new software begin the process with Version 3.4.
  • Application settings and saved templates are now stored in a user-writeable directory, not in the installation directory.
  • During installation, you now have the option to take over the handling of file types used by the AdisInsight and Citeline editions of BizInt Web Charts.
  • Details of all the changes which affect installation and administration of BizInt Smart Charts can be found at bizcharts.com/version3.4.
  • The File | Import panel now lists the BRD file type by default (instead of All Files).
  • New features for moving rows within a chart (added in version 3.3.21).

New in BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipeline 3.4

  • Support for Citeline Pipeline (added in version 3.3.14).
  • Support for ClinicalTrials.gov (added in version 3.3.17).

New in BizInt Smart Charts for Patents 3.4

  • Support for the new BizInt export on Orbit.com in addition to PatentExaminer, QPAT, and QWEB.
  • Support for LexisNexis TotalPatent (added in version 3.3.22).
  • More sources for full text patent links including Patent Order Direct (added through version 3.3.16).
  • Support for USGENE on STN (added in version 3.3.18).

 

Support for LexisNexis TotalPatent

BizInt Smart Charts for Patents 3.4 (September 2010) adds support for importing search results from Lexis Nexis TotalPatent. 

You can export results from your TotalPatent work folder using the "Export to BizInt Smart Charts for Patents" option; a "BPD" (BizInt Patent Data) file will be exported from TotalPatent. Images are not currently exported from TotalPatent.

Current customers will need to download the latest release of BizInt Smart Charts for Patents in order to import TotalPatent data.

If you are not a customer, you can use the trial software to evaluate using BizInt Smart Charts with TotalPatent data.

BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™ under development

The focus of BizInt development is BizInt Smart Charts Reference Rows™, a significant new capability for both BizInt Smart Charts for Patents and BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines, which introduces the concept of "Reference Rows" -- the ability to create a single row combining information from different sources.

Version 3.3 released in October 2007

On 30 October 2007, BizInt Solutions released Version 3.3 of BizInt Smart Charts for Patents, BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines and BizInt Smart Charts Viewer.  We encourage all customers to download and install the Version 3.3 software.  We will continue to issue interim releases of Version 3.3 as necessary until Version 4.0 is released.

New in BizInt Smart Charts 3.3 releases:

  • new interface for combining and updating reports
  • Row Status column indicating if rows are added, updated, etc. in updated and combined charts
  • automatic detection of which cells have changed in an updated report
  • ability to have row shading change when the major sort key changes. For example, row shading changes to indicate each common drug name or common patent family.
  • ability to enter a chart title when creating a combined or updated report

New in BizInt Smart Charts for Patents 3.3

  • support for PatBase and Thomson Pharma IP
  • support for full-text links from PatentOrder and espacenet, and the ability to specify full text sources by authority
  • improved truncation support

New in BizInt Smart Charts for Drug Pipelines 3.3

  • create combined clinical trial reports from Citeline TrialTrove and Adis Clinical Trials Insight
