Creating from Thomson Innovation

BizInt Smart Charts for Patents can build charts from search results from the Thomson Innovation service.

Thomson Innovation is supported by BizInt Smart Charts for Patents starting with Version 3.4.6 (2011-05-04). The Innovation export has the following limitations:

  • Images are not currently exported.
  • The .zip export format will not automatically launch BizInt Smart Charts for Patents; you must import the .zip file (use File|Import or drag the file into the BizInt Smart Charts window.)

Step by Step.
  1. Confirm that you are running BizInt Smart Charts for Patents 3.4.6 or later.
  2. Run your search in Thomson Innovation and view your Patent Result Set. Select the "Exports & Reports" option on the "Downloads" tab.



  3. Select the "BizInt Smart Charts (30,000 records only)" file format.



  4. Leave the field options "All BizInt Smart Charts fields", change the file name if you wish, and keep the "Compress file as .ZIP" box checked. Click "Create."



  5. Once your export appears as "Available now", click the link to save the .zip file. You must save the .zip file and import the file into BizInt Smart Charts for Patents.
