Support: Creating Reports from Databases/Hosts
Creating from Dialog
BizInt Smart Charts supports importing search results from the leading pipeline or patent databases on Dialog. Transcripts must use the TAG option and may be saved as RTF or text. (Images supported in RTF only - see instructions below.)
We recommend that you check the What's New sheets for the current list of supported databases, or status of Dialog host support.
Separate instructions are provided for DialogLink and DialogWeb. DialogClassic is not supported.
DialogLink - Step by Step
We recommend using DialogLink 5. Images are supported only in RTF format.
- Logon to your account and conduct your search.
- Display the records using the TAG option to the type command (e.g., "t 1/9,IM/all tag").
- If you want to save only a portion of your results, select that section.
- Choose File -> Save -> Selected or File -> Save -> All to download the entire session.

- Enter a filename and Save as type of Rich Text Format (RTF, required for images) or as Plain Text.

- Import file into BizInt Smart Charts using File|Import.
- If you have problems importing images: try changing the output directory in DialogLink (Configuration|Options|Directories) to a directory on a specific drive (e.g. G:\files\dialog) and save your results again.
DialogWeb - Step by Step
Exports from DialogWeb are problematic and we recommend using DialogLink. The instructions below are provided for your information but we do not guarantee that they will work.
- Logon to your account. You should be in Command Search mode.
- Submit (Begin) your databases and conduct your search using the command box at the bottom.
- When the Search History page appears, select Full under Format, enter a tagged format command (e.g., enter "t 1/9,IM/all tag" in the Command line) and press Submit.
- Select the records you want and choose the Print/Save Selected option.
The page will display in a browser window as pictured here:
- Choose Save As from the File menu. Note or change the destination folder, enter a file name and choose the file type is "Text".
- Import file into BizInt Smart Charts.
