Creating from Questel

BizInt Smart Charts for Patents can build charts from search results from Questel using QPat, QWeb, or the command line interface. In all cases, results should be exported in Full XML format.

Instructions are provided for QPat and for the command line.



QPat - Step by Step

  1. Log on to the QPat system and conduct your search.
  2. Select the records you want to export and click on the "Export" button, as pictured below:

  3. The Export window will open, as pictured below. Select "Full XML" as the template, and "Document" as the Format, as pictured. (Under User Preferences -> Display -> Field Format, make sure that "Short" is selected, to allow for tagged data export.)

  4. The Download window will open. Please click on the link:

  5. Import the ZIP file into BizInt Smart Charts for Patents (the XML and images will be automatically extracted by BizInt Smart Charts):

Command Line - Step by Step

  1. Log on to Questel (command line or QWeb) and conduct your search.
  2. Issue the export command.
  3. When prompted for the Delivery Type, choose email.
  4. When prompted for the Delivery Format, enter XML.
  5. You may use any display format and may include images.
  6. You will be prompted to select a Page Style. Enter 1 for the default page style.
  7. When the export email arrives, save the ZIP file to your hard drive, and import it into BizInt Smart Charts for Patents. Smart Charts will automatically extract the XML and images from the ZIP file.
