All BizInt Smart Charts products are 32-bit Windows desktop applications. We officially support Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7. As of version 3.4 we no longer test under Windows 95 and 98, but the software should still work under these versions.
Version 3.4.0 introduced a number of changes specifically intended to support Windows Vista and Windows 7. Users of these operating systems should upgrade as soon as possible. These changes are documented on the Version 3.4 support page.
BizInt Smart Charts software will only run under Windows Server 2003 (and other .NET based Windows versions) if an explicit exception is granted from the Data Execution Prevention rule.
Exports from BizInt Smart Charts are compatible with Office 2000, 2007, and 2010 (Word and Excel).
BizInt Smart Charts installation has been designed to minimally affect system configuration. All application files are installed into the specified target directory (or sub-directories). The user should have permission to write to the 'template' folder within the installation directory. As of version 3.4, templates are saved to the user's roaming profile. For earlier versions, a workaround is available.
Registry changes are made to register a small number of file types used by the BizInt Smart Charts applications. No other changes are made to the registry. Installation should be run under the user's account so that the file associations are available to the user.
We have received reports from several companies with restricted software installation policies that the new version 3.4 setup packages can be installed without administrator privileges.
BizInt Smart Charts applications require minimal system resources beyond those of a basic Windows installation.
