Using MicroPatent with BizInt Smart Charts

BizInt Smart Charts for Patents can import bibliographic data from both the WorldWide PatSearch and PatSearch FullText products by MicroPatent (www.micropat.com). The instructions below describe how to save your search results from these services and import them into BizInt Smart Charts for Patents.

MicroPatent WorldWide PatSearch

  1. Once you have a result set on the screen, select the records you want to export and press the Export Data button. This will order the bibliographic data as a CSV file.
  2. Save the file to your hard disk (do NOT open with Excel directly).
  3. Import the file into BizInt Smart Charts for Patents (File | Import).

MicroPatent PatSearch FullText

  1. From the Patent List (search results), select the patents you want and click the Worksheet button.
  2. Once again, select the patents you want. Then scroll to the bottom of the drop down list of WorkSheet Options and choose Export Data.
  3. Click Go.
  4. Select the fields you would like to export. The Predefined Options are fully supported. Most fields in the Enhanced Data Export list are supported. (See the list below for fields which are not supported at this time.) Note: If you choose Enhanced Data Export, "Patent/Publication No." must be the first field selected.
  5. Choose the radio button corresponding to CSV format.
  6. Press Submit to order the export.
  7. Save the file to your hard disk (do NOT open with Excel directly).
  8. Import the file into BizInt Smart Charts for Patents (File | Import).
