Creating PDF (Acrobat) files with BizInt Smart Charts
Using third-party software, you can create PDF files of both charts and records from BizInt Smart Charts. Adobe Acrobat files allows you to electronically distribute high-quality reports which look like printed output from BizInt Smart Charts.
Advantages
- Charts and records will look the same as printed output (both on the screen and when printed)
- Reports can be distributed electronically and viewed with the Adobe Acrobat Viewer.
- Formatting and images are preserved.
Disadvantages
- Creating the PDF requires a third-party software program such as Adobe Acrobat 3.0 or above (different from the Acrobat Viewer) or other PDF creation program.
- PDF files cannot be edited.
- Records are not linked to the chart.
How to create a PDF file:
- First, check that Adobe Acrobat 3.0 or above is installed on your PC.
Choose File | Print Setup. You should see the Acrobat PDFWriter or Acrobat
Distiller in your list of printers (in the drop-down menu under the Specific
Printer radio button.) If you do not have these printers in the list, you
do not have the Adobe Acrobat software installed.
The Adobe Acrobat software is not provided with BizInt Smart Charts. Your company may have a license, or it can be purchased for about $200 (For more info: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/main.html). You can also use the 5D PDF Creator software to create PDF files from BizInt Smart Charts (For more info:http://www.five-d.com/).
- Choose File | Print. Click the Print Setup button and choose the Acrobat PDFWriter or Acrobat Distiller printer. You may find that the Acrobat Distiller provides better output.
- Select either the chart or the records to print.
- You will be prompted for the file name for the .pdf file as part of the printing process. Instead of printing the chart or records, a .pdf file will be created. This file can be opened in the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Add a link to the .pdf file to your HTML file, if desired. You can use an HTML editor to add a link to the .pdf file in the HTML file exported by BizInt Smart Charts.
