Distributing reports with images
using HTML export and Microsoft Word
There are several options for distributing BizInt Smart Charts reports via email which include images.
- Email the .cht or .chp file to a user who has a BizInt Smart Charts product. The images will be included in the file.
- Create a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat, and email the PDF file.
- Export to HTML. To email a report including images, you must email the *.htm file and the directory *.img containing the linked images. This can be difficult with many email packages.
If you'd like to email your users the HTML export format, you can open and save the HTML file in Microsoft Word, and then email the .doc file. This overcomes the problem with emailing a directory of images.
- Create your report in BizInt Smart Charts, then use File | Export to export the report to HTML. Include images and records if this is what you want. BizInt Smart Charts will create a *.htm file and a directory called *.img with a set of .jpg files.
- Open the .htm file in Microsoft Word. Word should import the images as linked pictures. If this doesn't happen, check the Tools|Options|View panel in Word, and make sure the "Picture placeholders" check box is deselected.
- In Word, select Edit | Links...
- A Links panel will appear showing all the links to the graphics.
- Select all the items in the list, and check the "Save picture in document" box at the bottom right of the panel. Then click OK.
- Save the file as a .doc file.
- Attach the .doc file to an email message.
